Privacy Policy
Updated: 14 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information NSFAS Status Check (https://nsfasstatus.co.za/, “this site”, “we”) collects when you visit, and what we do with it. This site is an independent, unofficial information guide about the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). It is not NSFAS, and it is not affiliated with NSFAS or the South African government. This site is operated in South Africa, where the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) applies to the handling of personal information.
Information this site collects
Comments. If you leave a comment on an article, the site stores the name, email address and comment you provide, together with your IP address and browser user agent, which WordPress uses to help detect spam. Your name and comment may be displayed publicly with the article. Do not include your ID number, NSFAS password, banking details or other sensitive information in a comment — this site will never ask you for those.
No accounts. This site does not offer visitor accounts, registrations, subscriptions or products, and it does not ask you to create an account or log in. There is no account information for us to collect or store.
Server and security logs. Like most websites, the hosting server may log basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed and the time of your visit. These logs are used to operate and protect the site.
Cookies and advertising
Cookies. This site uses cookies — small files stored in your browser — for basic site functions, such as remembering the details you entered if you leave a comment, and for advertising. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, although some features (such as remembering comment details) may not.
Advertising. This site displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, including ads based on your interests and previous visits to this and other websites. You can manage ad personalisation through your Google account settings or the AdChoices / “About this ad” controls shown with the ads. Please see Google’s Privacy Policy for details of how Google handles your data.
How information is used and shared
We use the information described above to run, maintain and improve the site, to display comments, to moderate spam and abuse, and to show advertising that keeps the site free to use. We do not sell your personal information. Information may be processed by the service providers that operate the site on our behalf (for example, the hosting provider), only as needed to run the site.
Links to other websites
This site links to other websites, including the official NSFAS website (nsfas.org.za). Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.
Your choices
You can control cookies through your browser, and control personalised ads through your Google account settings. If you would like a comment you left on this site removed, please leave a comment on the same article asking for its removal, and we will remove it.
Children’s privacy
This site provides general information and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through a comment, please ask for its removal as described above.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The updated date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
